Gosh. 2 years ago today I started to become ill. I went to yoga that morning, took work home that afternoon as I felt I was fighting something. Little did I know, I was soon to endure the fight for my life.
Last year, one year later, I was keynote speaker for a large medical diagnostic company’s sales meeting. Obviously I won that battle!
Today, I went to a dear old family friend’s funeral. May she rest in peace.
Life is short.
My message is this.
Even amongst the aftermath of COVID (from which I fell ill, unknown at the time, leading to septic shock), never forget: Life is short.
We are meant to live!
Our humanity lies in our communion with one another. We shine brightest when we share our lives with one another. “Love your neighbor as yourself.” That’s a tough one, isn’t it? That means your neighbor literally, your neighbor at work, in passing the aisles at the store or on the road… neighbors all around. It sounds easy to do. And life happens. And suddenly someone cuts you off driving and you’re suddenly not feeling so loving, maybe you’re one of the ones waving the finger at someone or cursing them. Yet this is what we are called to do – love – even those that are toughest for us to love. Just be kind. Easier said than done. Something to strive for regardless. Day after day.
As my dear, late Aunt Connie said, “Be kind whenever possible… It is always possible.” May she Rest in Peace.
Life has always presented obstacles for each of us, and for us all collectively. Can we say together “COVID”? Just one example of how dark this world can be. Yet in our humanity and in coming together, we rise above it all, when we turn our hearts toward God, toward one another, sharing kindness and love, and living. Don’t let the fear of a virus stop you from living! Mitigate your risks, however that looks for YOU, and live and love.
The days can seem long, yet the months and years flash by in a blink. When will death come knocking? None of us knows when that time will be. Thus, we must live our lives to the fullest. We pray, in the end, through divine grace, we will all be together – in communion – once again in the Heavenly Kingdom. For now, and this life?
Do you see what this precious life is really all about? Life is for loving & living. And always remember, no matter what: God has a plan.
